Many people wonder how they could make money by writing and selling their own ebooks. And that’s not such a surprise because right now the Internet is all abuzz with ebook publishing news and developments. There are new e-book readers coming out almost every month, new ebook web sites and ebook libraries popping up all over the place, and traditional publishers increasing the quantity of ebooks they have available.
So what does this mean for internet businesses, and especially authors? Well, ebooks have probably become one of the best ways to make money writing. But in the midst of this ebook industry growth there are also some ebook publishing myths floating around. So let’s take a look at four of the myths.
Myth #1. Writing an E-book is Difficult
It’s not. Well it’s certainly not any more difficult than writing a traditional book and in many cases it can be far easier. Consider that an average ebook has fewer pages than the average book in traditional print. There are lots of successful e-books in the range of 25 to 80 pages, and it is certainly a lot easier to write 70 pages than to fill up 225 pages!
Myth #2. Getting People to Promote Your E-book is Difficult
It’s not. When your ebook is completed and published, consider making it available at marketplaces such as ClickBank and PayDotCom. Besides enabling you to accept credit card payments without having a merchant account, these marketplaces have thousands of affiliates eager and chomping at the bit to promote good ebooks.
Myth #3. It is Better to Do It All Yourself
Wrong. Self-publishing is a fabulous idea, but after you write an ebook and get it published it is then good to enlist as much assistance as possible in promoting and selling it.
Teaming up with related web sites is just one example of how you can do this.
Myth #4. When Your Ebook Is Written, Simply Sit Back, Relax and Wait for the Checks to Arrive
Bad idea. You should be working on your next project. Without any doubt interest in your first ebook is going to decline after some time. It could take years, but it might only be months or weeks.
By always having additional ebooks in the development pipeline you should be able to mantain at least several good sellers on the market at any point in time.
Think about these myths.
Next think about your desire to succeed as an ebook author.
Now start writing ebooks. Write. Publish. Sell.
